HOUSTON – May 21, 2021 – To protect IoT developers and manufacturers against mounting cybersecurity threats, Velentium, a professional engineering firm that specializes in the design and manufacturing of therapeutic and diagnostic active medical devices for companies ranging from startups to Fortune 100s, announced today the launch and open enrollment of its level one training and certification series, Mastering Embedded Cybersecurity.

Following the launch of the bestselling textbook Medical Device Cybersecurity for Engineers and Manufacturers – co-authored by Christopher Gates, Velentium’s Director of Product Security – the company designed a formal training program on how to implement cybersecurity best practices and processes during design, development, production, premarket, and postmarket activities.

The level one training session is a two-year certification program intended to educate professionals on understanding threats, evaluating designs, and assessing vulnerabilities. The program will cover topics related to embedded security incidents and case studies and has several start dates throughout the year. Classes begin August 23, September 27, and October 25, 2021, with an additional mid-November or early December sessions on the horizon.

“Malicious cyberattacks are plaguing some of the world’s most vital industries and have recently been thrust into the national spotlight,” said Christopher Gates, Director of Product Security at Velentium. “Educating our workforce on the modern methods and techniques that protect our companies, devices, and future is paramount. The recent executive order on improving the nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure demonstrates a critical need for advancing regulations and implementing formal training for the world’s leading players in the medical device field.”

Velentium recently unveiled three levels of training and certifications, as well as a custom, two-hour executive training course for board members, C-level and other senior executives who are driving the integration of embedded cybersecurity best practices into their companies’ operations.
